Futoshi Matsunaga | Mind Controller
What Futoshi Matsunaga did was so disturbing that the Japanese media refused to report the details of his crime. Reader discretion is advised.
Futoshi was born on April 28, 1961 in Kitakyushu, Japan. Not much is known about his childhood, but what we do know is that he was a pretty good kid, straight A’s and a ‘charming’ personality. He did have disciplinary issues, though. After engaging in a relationship with a junior high school girl, he was transferred to another high school. He got married at 19 and had a son.
Futoshi had a bad habit of cheating and was involved with at least ten mistresses whilst being married. One of those mistresses was Junko Ogata, one of Futoshi’s former schoolmates. In 1984, Futoshi told Junko that he would marry her and Junko was thrilled. On the other hand, her mother, Shizumi Otaga, was not. Shizumi did not approve of the relationship because Futoshi would often abuse her daughter. As a result, Futoshi went on to rape Shizumi. Yes, you read that right, rape. Somehow, Junko still believed that he was the man of her dreams and in 1985, moved in with him after he convinced her that her family hated her.
That same year, Futoshi purchased a building so he could operate his futon business. A futon is basically a Japanese style of bedding. Things took a dark turn when Futoshi began to electrically shock employees on the third floor of the building. He would also shout things like “There is a spirit behind you! It is sucking away your fortune!" By 1992, Futoshi and Junko had stolen 18 million yen (about $2.2 million). They always managed to escape police capture and were soon put on Japan’s most wanted list.
Futoshi’s first victim was a married woman and her three children. Although I couldn’t find this woman’s identity, in April of 1993, Futoshi convinced her to leave her husband and run away with him. He also told her that Junko was his sister. In September of that year, one of her children died mysteriously. The other kids went to live with their father that month. During their relationship, Futoshi defrauded the woman for 11.8 million yen (about $145,510). The woman also died mysteriously in March 1994, but the police were unable to prove that Futoshi had killed the woman or her child.
After the woman, Matsunaga began victimizing a man named Kumio Toraya and his daughter. Kumio had told Futoshi that he had a criminal history and Futoshi used the information to blackmail Kumio. He and his daughter were held captive in Futoshi’s apartment. Futoshi would torture Kumio using electric shocks, he was forced to eat his own feces and his daughter was forced to bite him. Kumio succumbed to the abuse on February 26, 1996. Futoshi managed to convince Kumio’s daughter that she had murdered her own father and told Junko and the daughter to get rid of the body. Kumio’s body was thrown into the sea near the Kunisaki Peninsula after being pulverized.
After many more murders, including that, of Junko’s whole family, except her two daughters, Futoshi was put to jail in 2002 after Kumio’s daughter testified against him. He is now 60 years old and spending life in prison.
