Amarjeet Sada | Serial Killer at 8 years old

There was always something weird about the Sada family, ranging from how it seemed like they had a big secret to the fact that many of the girls in the family were going missing. The villagers of Mushahar, Bihar, didn’t think much of it though, they respected the Sada’s privacy. That was until 2007, when Kushboo, the six month old baby of one of the Sada’s neighbors, went missing.

Kushboo Devi, the new born baby of the Sada’s neighbor, went missing after her mother had left her at the school daycare in the village so she could better tend to her chores. Later in the day, when her mother went to the school to pick her up, she discovered that Kushboo was missing. The mother went around asking anyone and everyone if they had seen her baby but no one knew where Kushboo was.

Finally, when Kushboo’s mother asked someone from the Sada family if they knew about Kushboo’s whereabouts, she was able to get some answers. When the mother had asked the member of the Sada family if they knew where her daughter was, the member said no, but they might have an idea what happened to Kushboo and who did it. Together, they called the police. When the police arrived, the member of the Sada family who had called them told them to ask an eight year old boy who was playing on the streets if he had seen Kushboo. The police did just that and what they discovered was horrifying.

The boy that police had questioned was Amarjeet Sada. Police called Amarjeet, he ran up to them and they asked him if he had seen Kushboo. He said yes. When he was asked if he knew where she was, he, again, replied yes. And that was because he had killed Kushboo Devi. At first, the police did not take him seriously. They thought that this was just a little boy screwing around because he didn’t know how serious this case was. Amarjeet, after seeing that no one was believing him, said that he would take them to Kushboo’s body. And he did just that.

On the outskirts of the village, in an empty field, Amarjeet led police to Kushboo’s body, which was buried in a shallow grave. Amarjeet stated he had dug the grave after he killed her. When asked how he had killed Kushboo, he said that he strangled her and then hit her with a brick that was laying around the scene. He was immediately taken to the police station. There, he was asked why he had done it. Why did he kill Kushboo? Instead of answering, Amarjeet simply smiled and asked for biscuits. He never showed any remorse.

It was soon discovered that Kushboo wasn’t Amarjeet’s first victim. In fact, she was his third, making him a serial killer after he killed her. In 2006, when he was just seven, he killed his six year old cousin. Amarjeet had led her to an isolated area outside of the village and started strangling her. A wave of horror had washed over her face and Amarjeet had allegedly felt great satisfaction from this. He soon stopped strangling her, walked over to get a rock and started hitting her over the head with it. This was what ended up killing her. He became the world’s youngest murderer at age 7.

When his family found out about it, they were horrified. They didn’t tell anyone though, instead they decided that it was just ‘family matters’, mostly to try and save Amarjeet but to also save their reputation. This was a bad choice.

A few months later Amarjeet’s own eight month old sister went missing. While confessing to his parents, he said that he approached his sister while she was sleeping. He picked her up and took her to, again, an isolated area outside of town and murdered her. The events were more or less the same, he hit her with some kind of rock, not before strangling her. Again, everyone in the family decided that it was just a ‘family matter’ that they wouldn’t let anyone in on this dark secret that the family had. He was finally caught when he killed Kushboo Devi, someone who was not part of his family.

Over the years, after many psychiatric tests, it was discovered that Amarjeet did not know the difference between wrong and right. He did not know that what he did to a person affected more than just the person themselves. Due to his mental state, he was considered an extreme threat to society and was kept in a mental institution until age 18. He is now a few years older than 20, meaning he is a free man, and is somewhere out there, roaming around the streets of India.

This one, to me, is terrifying. From the fact that this kid became a murderer at 7 and serial killer at 8, to the fact that he is still out there, free. It was also a bit confusing because it seems like the source of his murders is still unknown. He didn't have a TV so he couldn't, for example, be inspired by violent shows/ movies. He also couldn't be inspired by real life events because nothing like it had happened in the town where he lived. And these facts have led some people to believe that the crimes had not actually been committed by Amarjeet. It is believed that someone else in the Sada family committed the crimes and Amarjeet was framed by that person. Some evidence to support this is that, from what we got, Amarjeet did not know that what he did was wrong. So why would he try to hide the body of Kushboo Devi? If he did not think that what he did was wrong, he wouldn't even think of disposing the body, let alone doing it. Anyways, what do you think? Was Amarjeet Sada just this unfortunate young individual who got framed or was he actually the one who was responsible? Be sure to stay safe out there and remember to always carry around a bottle of pepper spray. Stay alive and I will see you next week!
